Little Miss Sunshine

Well, I just saw the film "Little Miss Sunshine" (G-d knows why), (directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris). Which is basically about an American family who all "want to win" real badly, but are all sort of losers, and have to learn to live with it.There are probably many lessons that were intended in it. The one that caught on to me is one statement, where the guy playing the 'bummed out teenager' says "our whole lives are beauty pageants". He was represented as being a fan of Nietzsche, and I could kind of imagine Nietzsche sort of going on that theme. Our whole lives people are judging us; how we look, how much money we make, if we're likable. It's true, and it is rough, especially for unmarried, marriageable age people like me. But it's true throughout life.

True (sigh)

I would like to add that it never goes away the judgement of others,
we live in a verey shallow corrupt world.
I think it worse between achaynu bnie yisroel, unfortunately, than the world at large.

You know that was a pretty darn good movie, an amazing message. But the end of it where the whole family comes together by just saying the heck with everything doesn't usualy happen in real life. But on the other hand why not give it a try!

Ah, yingerman, heartofire, tr8ergirl; thank you for visiting 'lomo-land'- thank you, come again!

yingerman- "I think it worse between achaynu bnie yisroel, unfortunately, than the world at large."- Well, maybe among 'hareidim'...girls have to be anorexic-only working parent-housewife-childrearing-phd carrying superwives, and the guys just misunderstand gemara in yeshiva. Hey, I think it's fun, just not really for me... kind of overpreasuring on the girl though...

heartofire- "But the end of it where the whole family comes together by just saying the heck with everything doesn't usualy happen in real life. But on the other hand why not give it a try!", well, I would say the end of the movie was 'the hell with everything', they realized that sticking together as a team and being a real family was more important than 'winning'.
